Contempo Studio is looking for an experienced Architectural Designer / Permit Technologist / Permit Specialist to join our team who has a passion for custom home design and strong knowledge of the Residential Home Building sector & Ontario Building Code. The ideal candidate should have the ability to draft and review residential construction drawings, as well as assist with applications for submission to the city and coordinate with sub consultants. Our ideal candidate is self-sufficient, experienced in residential architecture in Southern Ontario, and can enhance our workflow to make designing and building more efficient & enjoyable. Our ideal team member must have:

  • A passion for residential architecture
  • Strong Knowledgeable in OBC Requirements for Part 9, and Part 3
  • Strong attention to detail is a must
  • Residential architectural design experience in the Southern Ontario
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient in drafting working drawings with efficiency (advanced skills necessary)
  • Experience assisting in assembling and coordinating of document production from concept design to construction documents, while maintaining office standards
  • 7+ years of work experience in Canadian residential architecture
  • Strong Knowledge in Wood Frame Construction and Architectural details
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on timely project completion and exceeding customer’s expectations
  • Experience corresponding with City Staff, addressing OBC notices, city comments, & problem solving
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and developing construction details and assemblies for custom homes
  • Experience reviewing Shop Drawings
  • Strong knowledge of Structural layouts
  • Experience coordinating with sub-consultants including structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and grading consultants
  • Strong leadership skills & team management capabilities, while reviewing drawings for internal coordination and mentorship of junior staff
  • Experience assisting with developing, Implementing and maintaining office drawing standards

Contempo Studio is looking for an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our growing team. We are looking for an individual with a strong knowledge of the Residential Sector and OBC Part 9 & 3. Our ideal candidate is self-sufficient, experienced in residential architecture in the GTA, and can enhance our workflow to make designing more enjoyable, reducing redundancy where possible.

 

Our Ideal Candidate Must Have:

  • A passion for residential architecture
  • Residential architectural design experience in the GTA
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient in drafting construction drawings with efficiency
  • Ability to produce clean elevations, floor plans, and site plans including renderings
  • Confidence to assist in assembling and coordinating document production from concept to construction documents while maintaining client standards
  • 3+ years of work experience in Canadian residential architecture
  • Knowledgeable in OBC Requirements for Part 9, and Part 3
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills with focus on timely project completion and exceeding customer’s expectations
  • Strong AutoCAD skills with a proficiency in Revit

  • Communicate as primary contact for all project-related matters among clients, consultants, and builders.
